We all miss racing at the FXBG quarry as much as y’all.
So it’s time to make it happen and let the chaos unfold!
You are in for a treat when you race this FXBG Quarry course. Most people don’t expect it – the trail is technical with plenty of hills, log hops, and turns to keep you on your toes. Just some AWESOME “old school” XC racing! RVA Racing Events has worked with local riders and FREDTrails team to put together an amazing course that covers some of the best trails in the quarry system.
So, Let’s. Get. It. On!
WHERE: 1200 Wicklow Dr, Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Sunshine Ballpark)
WHEN: SATURDAY, October 1st
RESCHEDULED DATE: SATURDAY, October 8th
RACE STARTS: 9:00 for all Categories (in 1-minute waves)
DISTANCES: Please note that distances may vary slightly from the ones listed below. It all just depends on the best way to run the course as we get closer to race day.
2.5 Laps (~18 miles) - Pro/Elite (or 2 laps - we will let the field make the call race day)
2 Laps (~14 miles) - Expert (CAT1), Sport (CAT2) & Open (Clydes, SS, and teams)
1 Lap (~7 miles) - Beginner/Novice (CAT 3) & JUNIORS

PRE-REGISTRATION: $45 and CLOSES on Thursday, 10/6 @8:00 PM
DAY OF REGISTRATION: Add $25 - Venmo, cash, or check
RACE CHECK-IN: 7:00 – 8:30 AM SHARP at the RVA Racing Events tent
PARKING: Park in Baseball Stadium Parking lot – please follow volunteer directions!
FOOD TRUCK ON SITE: FUNGI PIZZA (see advert & menu below)
RAIN POLICY In order to maintain these great trails, the FREDTrails crew has a policy to wait 24 hours for every 1” of rainfall. The clock usually begins after the rain event has stopped.
NO-RISK REGISTRATION: Let’s hope Ian moves out and we have clear skies and hero dirt by the 8th. But if the rescheduled date doesn’t work for you, or in the event we must cancel this race, preregistered racers for the Chaos at the Quarry will get a choice of either:
Refund - through BikeReg
Credit - good for 2 years towards any future event or merchandise
Donate - you can donate (all or even part of) your registration which will go to assist junior racers, or those who cannot afford to races, and/or help provide food and beverage for our volunteers on race day. In return YOU will also receive a voucher for a discount on a future race good for 2 years.
There is a lot of planning that goes into running these great events. Canceling or even postponing a race is never easy on us as the host, or you the racer. We really appreciate your pre-registering because it helps us plan. And you shouldn't take it in the shorts if mother nature, or other unplanned events, throw us a curveball. So, in return we will always find a way to "make it right" for you - even if that means issuing a refund.
Why donate? The reality is most of our planning costs are non-refundable. So, if you do choose to donate any part of your registration - it really helps, and we will pay it back. You get a voucher and someone else gets to race - it’s a win-win!
