RACE DIRECTORS

Dennis Dempsey

CEO & Race Director

Nickname: “Demps” or “Barrett”

Dennis is a USAC Official and USAC Race Director who has been riding and racing bikes as long as he can remember. Dennis is no stranger to going fast in the woods and rubbing elbows on race day. He is putting that experience to good use as the lead hooligan and Race Director for RVA Racing Events.

When not riding, racing, or running a race, he is actively involved in driving reform within the Department of Defense’s Military Benefits policies and processes and the Disability Evaluation System (IDES) itself to effect meaningful change for the wounded and their families. Dennis is part of a team of senior executives who work from within the Pentagon bureaucracy to improve the way our nation cares for our warriors and veterans to ensure they receive the medical and financial assistance promised them. Dennis is also a board member and advisor to a non-profit organization focused on providing various levels of support to paralyzed and disabled veterans.

Andy Valerie

Race Director & Lead Course Designer

Andy …..

Louis Scheer

Race Director & Event Coordinator

Louis grew up as a kid in a bicycle shop. His dad, Joseph Scheer ran two bike shops The Gold Rush Win and the Bike Shop III in California. And this is where Louis grew up, learning from the ground up all things bicycle. It makes total sense that Louis currently owns Molly‘s bicycle shop and Blind Dog  brewery.

Promoting cycling events is just a matter of completion and continuation of his love for the sport of cycling and Louis’ life journey in helping anyone wanting to ride achieve their goals and having fun in the process.

Chris Caul

Event Coordinator & Course Director

Nickname: “Highlander”

Chris Caul is an avid athlete, outdoorsman, and no stranger to going fast in the woods. Chris has an extensive and impressive racing career that he has put to good use as course director.

Most recently, Chris worked as the Course Director for the Primal Quest Adventure Race, the most prestigious race organization in the United States and as Race Director for the United States Adventure Racing League (USARL).

OUR TEAM

Running a race is a complex business and we need a whole team to make it go smoothly. Our events couldn’t happen without an amazing team of dedicated professionals and volunteers who are either behind the scenes or out there on the course with you on race day.
